Bug ID: 2742466

DVD playback goes unsmooth whenever subtitles is displayed.

N/A

Windows Vista*

Intel® 4 Series Chipset Family

Root Cause:

Playing a DVD w/ subtitles enabled w/ Media Player causes frame drop. App continuously creates/free resolution size buffers. Creating these in aperture segment causes frame drop. Its believed to be due to OS bottle neck in a core OS function, ProbeAndLockPage(). Moving the buffers to fixed segment side steps the bottle neck, improving performance.

Bug ID: 2560683

OS hang up and CPU load 100%

Soft BIOS

Windows Vista*

Root Cause:

Bug ID: 2560145

Hot-key display switch does not function after resume from S4 with external VGA attached

NT - miniport

Windows Vista*

Mobile Intel® 45 Series Chipset Family

Root Cause:

SBIOS is not returning the correct NextACPIconfig to switch display.

In Windows Vista* SP1, OS doesn't sends " Sleep" as the reason for resume instead of " Hibernate" for S4 case. Due to this, driver doesn't evaluate _DOS to enable display switching.

Evaulated _DOS for both S3/S4 case on resume.

Bug ID: 2559684

Overlay colorkey not updated when PowerDVD Cinema toolbar presents

N/A

Windows Vista*

Mobile Intel® 45 Series Chipset Family

Root Cause:

Cyberlink application has a lot of transparencies which causes the OS to break up present into > 64 subrectangles. Code had not been tested in this scenario and was not behaving properly. Changed to behave as normal present would which is to return and continue until all rectangles are completed.

Bug ID: 2742292

System hang by playing H.264 and hib/res on IRX-4410

Power Conservation

Windows Vista*
Windows Vista*-64

Mobile Intel® 45 Series Chipset Family

Root Cause:

Upon entering D3 state, driver saves the HW state and then calls the policy handler to disable all PC features. Upon resume RS HW state is restored but RS policy remains inactive since it is not reset by mode or display configuration event. When UMD DxVA sends notification to disable RS, no action was taken since the policy sees it in inactive stage --> RS remains enabled --> LRI/AVC/VC1 hang issue.

Remove policy handling of RS in power down since it is not mode or display configuration dependent.

Mobile Intel® 45 Series Chipset Family

Root Cause:

Resolved with 15.9.1408 driver.

Apply after setting top/bottom mode in EDS. then move to 90 or 270 degrees. Issue is not seen.

Show horizontal mode in extented vertical pivot-extended desktop position was not persisting when orientation is changed.
The conditions for " PriRotaed" abd " SecRotated" was not supporting in case when rotation is changed from 0 to 90/270 degree.

Removed the variables used earlier to track the rotation of primary and secondary and intercahing the X and Y resolution.T
The variables were used only in Exteded desktop case and the variables were not serving the purpose in case of the orientation changed.
Condition is modified by adding " ROTATION_90" and " ROTATION_270" for interchanging X and Y resolution in case of setting the position.

Affected Project(s)

Bug ID: 2557585

System BSOD when run Half Life 2 DEMO

Direct3D*

Windows Vista*

Intel® 3 Series Chipset Family

Root Cause:

The application provided a pixel shader declaring a cube texture while a 2D texture was being bound to the texture stage. This way sampler expected a texture of a non-matching format and it was trying to pull texels from it, which caused sampler cache to hang on a hit to invalid memory.

There was a mechanism in code to override texture type declarations provided by the application in pixel shaders with declarations matching types of textures actually bound to the stages. A change introduced in version 15.6.1291 of the driver caused that mechanism not to work. The fix makes sure that the declarations match.

Bug ID: 2560160

Certain tests in GLSLDemo 3.8 do not have the texture applied correctly

OpenGL*

Windows Vista*

Intel® 4 Series Chipset Family

Root Cause:

The app calls glValidateProgram before setting up the a certain texture. Function was a little aggressive, returning error when texture is inconsistent. But since the pixel shader - shader can still execute with an invalid texture, texture consistency check is removed as a part of the passing criteria of this function.

Bug ID: 2560562

Display Switch hotkey not functioning.in Windows and DOS

N/A

Windows Vista*
Windows* XP

Mobile Intel® 45 Series Chipset Family

Root Cause:

Bug ID: 2561065

Mode persistense for extend desktop of LCD (Pri) - HDMI (Sec) over reboot does not work well

Soft BIOS

Windows Vista*
Windows Vista*-64

Mobile Intel® 45 Series Chipset Family

Root Cause:

Display blankout on HDMI after booting. Issue is happening because DIP was being turned on during display detection even if encoder output not active. So during set timing DIP was turned off (stGMCHHDMIData.bEnableDIP reset as DIP is already enabled here and encoder output is not active) To fix this, switch to HDMI/DVI mode only if output is already active

Direct3D*

Windows Vista*

Mobile Intel® 45 Series Chipset Family
Intel® 4 Series Chipset Family

Root Cause:

When the application disables an index buffer, the D3D component of the driver needs to notify GHAL3D that the index buffer is disabled.  If it doesn't do this,  GHAL3D will put this stale allocation handle for the index buffer in the command buffer allocation list.  This will cause RenderCb to fail if the application has also deleted the index buffer resource before the next draw call and hasn't bound a new index buffer in its place.

For 16bpp, we will always set the compression ratio in the calculation to ‘1’ as a first attempt (this translates to ‘01’ in bits [7:6]).  If there is not enough memory, then we will go to ‘2’ in the calculation (this translates to ‘10’ in bits [7:6]).  We will stop trying after two attempts

Root Cause:

Found out it is related with denoise filter enabled. If uncheck the denoise reduction through CUI, the issue is gone.
In denoise, if we swap the buffers, we must always perform Denoise for the current frame even if tSrc == rtDenoisedSample[DENOISED_CURR_SAMPLE], this is to ensure that we use the correct current frame

Windows Vista* : Intel CUI shows 59Hz refresh rate for CRT only video mode

Soft BIOS

Windows Vista*
Windows Vista*-64

Mobile Intel® 965 Express Chipset Family

Root Cause:

The issue is that before applying the mode added through VBT 960*600, user sees refresh rate as 60HZ(when display is not active) but after applying the mode sees as 59Hz. This is happening because in modemanager in addvbtmodes() we calculate DTD timings from which we get RR as 59HZ, user has set it as 60HZ. So we over ride the timing obtained from VBT over the DTD timing for RR. This was causing the Issue.

Now we used the DTD calculated timings instead of the RR rate obtained from VBT.

Aspect ratio changed from center to full sceen after reboot.

CUI2.5

Windows Vista*, Windows Vista*-64, Windows* XP, Windows* XP-64

Mobile Intel® 45 Series Chipset Family

Root Cause:

In CompareBasicConfig method, since the primary’s current config (LFP) and the configuraiton (primary) to be applied (LFP) are the same, we set bIsCfgDifferent = false, which is correct  In the next step we compare the secondary’s configuration which doesn’t match (current secondary = DFP, to be applied secondary = CRT), at this point bIsCfgDifferent should be set to true, however this never gets reset and we return false, hence CompareWithCurrentConfig returns false, which is why ApplyConfig never gets called, hence the issue.

Adding additional else statement to reset the bIsCfgDifferent flag to true, wherever required

Intel UMA: Selecting a Color Profile in DVD Play pauses video frame while audio continued playing.

DVD

Windows Vista*,Windows Vista*-64

Intel® 945G Express Chipset  Intel® 3 Series Chipset Family

Root Cause:

When adaptive deinterlacing is used, planar is converted to packed before other post processing steps occur, which means that the temp buffer used for ProcAmp when adaptive DI is used is formatted for packed content. However, when adaptive DI cannot be used for some reason and BOB is forced on (for example, if there's a frame drop), the same temp buffer is used for ProcAmp however since planar is NOT converted to packed during BOB, there is a mismatch between the format that the temp buffer for ProcAmp expects to recieve (packed) and what it actually does recieve (planar).

Add an additional temp buffer specificially for planar content to be used with ProcAmp when BOB is used.

Intel® GM965 Express Chipset

Resolution Description:

Root Cause:  Track for OS notification that it sends on a Dock/Undock event apart from normal ACPI Events i.e. the hardware profile change notification. Driver will now register itself for notification by giving a call back function.  As we have observed on Undock OS sends PreHwProfile notification and Post HwProfile change notification. Basically it means before changing profile one and after changing another.  In the undock case, we create a new event apart from normal persistence events which will be called for locking the persistence data base of CUI. This will prevent CUI database corruption. Unlock will happen when CUI receives Dock event which it will receive from Driver only when Driver has post and validate calls coming be it Dock or Undock event.  Basically, all the changes are to lock the CUI data base from corruption without causing any noticeable change in behaviour for end user.

Intel® 945G Express Chipset
Intel® 945GM Express Chipset
Intel® 3 Series Chipset

Root Cause:

In one of the DTM tests, the destination region was really small (pitch=512). So, the U and V plane widths were 256 and is less than that of the size of the X tile (512). So, the V-plane start address was getting set to be the same as the U plane address and the X-offset for V plane was getting set to 256. On gen3.5, the offset needs to be added to the base address during surface state programming.
